The practical approach to student training is a special hallmark of Kumasi Polytechnic and the School of Business and Management Studies. The school has strong linkage with industry through the industrial attachment programme of the polytechnic. Students undertake at least 20 weeks to 6 months compulsory industrial training as a requirement for the award of the HND.  Various institutions and companies across the country accept our students for industrial attachment and this opens up employment opportunities for the products of the faculty after school.

Lecturers in addition to their academic qualifications have professional qualifications as members of the following professional bodies enhancing their practical skills for the training of students. These include Ghana Institution of Surveyors - GhIS, Institute Of Chartered Accountant Ghana - ICA
Chartered Institute Of Marketing - CIM, Institute of Chartered Secretaries - ICSA, Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply - CIPS.

To ensure quality of programmes, the following bodies are set up by the Government to supervise teaching and award of HND certificates at the Polytechnic and for that matter the School Of Business  and Management Studies, Kumasi Polytechnic: National Council of Tertiary Education, National Accreditation Board

The polytechnic also has a self - evaluation mechanism for quality assurance. There are six student societies for all students enrolled in the six teaching Departments and One Umbrella Society for All the Programmes - FOBAMS. The six student societies are:
